Add to Calendar 2/26/2021 10:00:00 AM 2/26/2021 12:30:00 PM 2021 Rare Disease Day MassBio’s Rare Disease Day recognizes the research being done in Massachusetts to treat and cure rare disease. The last day of February has been designated as Rare Disease Day in Massachusetts to call attention to the public health issues associated with rare diseases, which affect nearly 30 million Americans and countless others around the world.

This year’s program will focus on how we can better address health inequity and racial disparities among the rare disease community. Attendees will hear an inspiring Possible Talk, an insightful panel of industry, physicians, patients/caregivers, and advocates, and a closing patient keynote. Ample networking time will be provided (virtually!).

Alone we are rare, together we are strong.

NOTE: MassBio makes every effort to accommodate our entire community at each of our events. Please let us know at least 3 days in advance of the event if you require special accommodations, such as captioning.

Executive Director, Save One Life
Chris Bombardier is executive director of Save One Life, an international nonprofit that provides direct financial aid and medication to patients with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders in developing countries. Chris was a board member of Save One Life from 2012 to 2019. During that time, Chris was actively involved on the program and scholarship committees. A mountaineer, Chris became the first person with hemophilia to successfully climb the Seven Summits, including Mt. Everest, and dedicated his climbs to raising funds for Save One Life. He eventually raised over $200,000 and helped 75 children receive sponsorships. Chris began his career as a professional research assistant with the University of Colorado Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center after graduating from Doane College with a bachelor's degree in biology. He later worked with GutMonkey, an experienced-based education company that works with people with chronic medical conditions. Through his travels around the world for the Seven Summits, and his work with Save One Life, Chris discovered his passion for global health work and returned to school. He recently earned his master's in global health from Northwestern University in 2020.
